What do you miss about your OB/GYNmedical practice?
I miss the interaction with patients and their families. I don’t miss the Electronic Medical Records.
Why did you start writing?
I started writing to tell inspirational stories of my trips to Haiti.
Where do you write and what time of day?
I write in my office by long hand first then by computer. If I’m on one of my wife’s trips, I’ll write in the hotel room. I write in the mornings.
What have you learned about Haiti during your many trips there?
Community and caring are a mainstay of the culture. Voodoo is not as spooky as it made out to be in movies. The creole cuisine is fabulous.
What is your favorite book?
“Prince of Tides” by Pat Conroy.
What is your favorite movie?
Caddyshack.
What is your favorite food?
Favorite food that shouldn’t be is a hamburger with blue cheese, bacon, and sautéed onions.
